Eddie’s Cove East to Castor River South Snowmobile Trail

Proponent: Long Range Riders Snowmobile Club

Summary of Environmental Assessment Process

Project Description:

The proponent proposes to complete a secondary snowmobile trail from Eddies Cove East to Castor River South, on the Great Northern Peninsula. This will include removing stumps from existing trails to assist grooming and to construct a building to store the trail groomer and other operational equipment. Construction will consist of cutting the 15 kilometres of trail which remains to connect some communities to the main trail. Also, stumps will be removed from all 100 kilometres of secondary trail. Some trail intersections will be widened to increase safety, and 25 kilometres of new trail will be cut to access two lakes in the area. Proper signage will also be erected along the trail.
