Project Description:
The proponent proposes an amendment to the District 15 Five Year Forest Harvesting Plan near Kennedy Lake in the Bonne Bay area. The amendment is needed to provide additional harvesting areas for local sawmills. The majority of the amendment area is already approved for domestic harvesting, however, a change to commercial harvesting is being requested. The Kennedy Lake amendment area covers a total of approximately 550 hectares of which 378 is considered productive forest. The harvest operation will consist of an integrated sawlog/pulpwood operation using manual felling and forwarder and/or snowmobile extraction.
- May 4, 2005 – The undertaking was registered.
- June 10, 2005 – Public comments are due.
- June 18, 2005 – The Minister’s decision is due.
- June 30, 2005 – the Minister announced the project has been released from further environmental assessment review.
