Project Description:

The proponent plans to build a mussel processing facility in Pleasantview, Notre Dame Bay. The proposed undertaking will include construction of a 16 metre by 37 metre wood frame building for processing aquaculture raised mussels for the fresh/live market. The facility plans to start processing 1,000,000 pounds per year and increasing to as much as 4,000,000 pounds within three years, depending on market demands. Construction and equipment installation will take approximately 4 months to complete.

• June 16, 2005 – The undertaking was registered.
• July 21, 2005 – Public comments are due.
• July 28, 2005 – The Minister releases the project from further environmental assessment.
