Project Description:

The proponent proposes to harvest 107,400 cubic metres of mature to over mature timber, representing approximately 832 hectares, within the Michaels and Denny’s Pond areas in Forest Management District 12, located in central Newfoundland. These two areas fall outside the current Five-Year Operating Plan. A total of 11.9 kilometres of new operational roads are proposed to be built, with 11.3 kilometres of additional roads upgraded.

• May 24, 2006 – The undertaking was registered.
• June 28, 2006 – Public comments are due.
• July 8, 2006 – The Minister’s decision is due.
• July 21, 2006 – The Minister announced the project has been released from further environmental assessment review, subject to conditions.
