Summary of Environmental Assessment Process

Project Description:

The proponent proposes to construct a building (600 m2 ) in Charlottetown to house kilns, saws, planers, moulders and other ancillary equipment required in the manufacture of various wood products, such as flooring panels and siding. The facility will be located alongside the Trans Labrador Highway , just before it enters Charlottetown . The proponent intends to purchase up to 2000 square feet of wood squares daily for the production of value-added wood products. Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin in November, 2005.

  • September 1, 2005 – Public comments are due.
  • September 29, 2005 – The Minister released the project from further environmental assessment with conditions.
