Project Description:
The proponent proposes to harvest up to 50,000 cubic metres of timber as sawlogs, pulpwood, or fuelwood from a productive forest area of approximately 4,000 hectares in the Catamaran Brook area, located approximately one kilometre west of Badger in Forest Management District 12. The amendment will provide an operating area and employment to local operators and loggers in the Badger area on lands recently transferred to the Crown (Department of Natural Resources) by Abitibi-Consolidated Inc. The timber to be harvested will be cut by Crown operators.
- October 18, 2005 – The undertaking was registered.
- November 24, 2005 – Public comments are due.
- December 2, 2005 – The Minister’s decision is due.
- December 22, 2005 – the Minister announced the project has been released from further environmental assessment review.
