Summary of Environmental Assessment Process
Project Description:
The proponent proposes to construct and maintain a 25 kV single phase distribution line to supply electricity to a communications tower proposed to be installed on Dome Mountain by Canadian Coast Guard. Dome Mountain is situated west of the Goose Bay Airport near Alexander Lake and the transmission line would run from an existing distribution line in a northerly direction for a distance of 3 kilometres. Structures treated with Chromated Copper Arsenate would be used and be single pole except where H-frame structures are required. Construction will occur over a four to six week period beginning in mid-June 2006. A nine metre cleared right of way would be maintained.
- November 17, 2005 – The undertaking was registered.
- December 23, 2005 – Public comments are due.
- January 1, 2006 – The Minister’s decision is due.
- January, 13, 2006 – The Minister announced the project has been released from further environmental assessment review.
