Summary of Environmental Assessment Process

Project Description:
The proponent proposes to construct an ATV trail to a remote cottage near Joe Batt’s Arm, Notre Dame Bay . The trail will be approximately 2 to 2.5 metres wide and 2 km long. One bridge will be required to cross a 2 metre stream near the beginning of the trail. Approximately 75% of the trail will traverse open country consisting of rocky barrens. Approximately 20% of the trail will cross a wooded area and approximately 5% of the trail will be constructed along the periphery of a barren marshland area. Some log corduroy construction will be required along this section. The anticipated construction planned for the spring of 2006 will be for a two week duration.

• March 8, 2006 – The undertaking was registered.
• April 14 30, 2006 – Public comments are due.
• April 26, 2006 – The Minister releases the project from further environmental assessment.
