Summary of Environmental Assessment Process

Project Description:

The proponent intends to replace their existing concrete sand and aggregates quarry west of the Foxtrap Access Road with a new quarry on a 2.3 hectare site 100 metres to the south. The 100 m access road will require a culvert to cross Nut Brook which will have a 50 m wide buffer of undisturbed vegetation maintained on both sides. Lands to be quarried will be cleared and grubbed in stages with topsoil to be stockpiled on site for use in decommissioning.Construction (to commence as early as May 1, 2006) is estimated to last two weeks and to require six truck drivers, two heavy equipment operators, and two laborers.Crushing, washing, and concrete production will take place at an existing approved off-site location.

• April 14, 2006 – Public comments are due.
• May 15, 2006 – The Minister releases the project from further environmental assessment.
