Summary of Environmental Assessment Process

Project Description:

The proponent proposes to construct a gravel access road, approximately 1.5 kilometres in length, in order to provide seasonal access to private land for a Christmas tree farming operation. The road is located between the main road through the community of O’Regan’s and the Grand Codroy River , in Western Newfoundland . The road is planned to be constructed to a forestry road class “C” standards and is scheduled to be built in early October, 2006.

• August 21, 2006 – The undertaking was registered.
• September 29, 2006 – Public comments are due.
• October 5, 2006 – The Minister’s decision is due.
• October 20, 2006 – The Minister announced the project has been released from further environmental assessment review.
