Project Description:

The proposal is to harvest, on an operational trial basis, a total of approximately 66,000 – 100,000 cubic metres of pre-commercially thinned areas, representing approximately 660 hectares in the Mill Pond area, south of Grand Falls-Windsor . The project is to commence during the summer and fall of 2007. The purpose of these operational trials is to determine stand health, stand productivity and harvesting productivity, including a cost benefit analysis for this type of harvest. Approximately 2 kilometres of existing operational road will be up-graded.

  • June 5, 2007 – Public comments are due.
  • June 14, 2007 – The Minister’s decision is due.
  • June 20, 2007 – The Minister announced the project has been released from further environmental assessment review.
