Project Description:
The Department of Natural Resources proposes an amendment to the proposed silviculture area and road construction as outlined in the District 19a Five Year Operating Plan (2003 – 2007). The purpose of this amendment is to plant trees to replace those burned during a forest fire in 1985. The site is located in central Labrador approximately 40 kilometres north of the town of Happy Valley Goose Bay , along the Grand Lake Forest Access Road . The amendment covers 180 hectares, and includes 5 kilometres of new forest access road.
- May 9, 2007 – The undertaking was registered.
- June 15, 2007 – Public comments are due.
- June 22, 2007 – The Minister’s decision is due.
- June 28, 2007 – The Minister announced the project has been released from further environmental assessment review.
