Project Description:

The proponent plans to construct a salmon and trout hatchery consisting of a 61 metre by 18 metre building. The facility will produce approximately 500,000 salmon and 600,000 trout annually for supply to existing sea cage farming in Bay D’Espoir. The site is bounded by Tail Race Road to the east and Crown land to the west, south and north.

• May 17, 2007 – The undertaking was registered.
• June 22, 2007 – Public comments are due.
• July 1, 2007 – The Minister’s decision is due.
• July 22, 2007 – The Minister announced the project has been released from further environmental assessment review.
