Project Description:

The proposal is to include the construction of a 2.6 kilometre access road to a mineral exploration site 10 kilometres south of Sop’s Arm. The road is to begin off Route 420, immediately north of White Bottom Pond and continue southwest to an existing logging road on the Viking claim. The undertaking will transport the drill, personnel and other exploration materials to the site and construction will include excavation and tree removal. The road is to be re-claimed upon completion of exploration, as per mineral exploration guidelines. The exploration protocol at the Viking site will include 9 trenches and 35 drill holes.

  • February 20, 2009 – The undertaking was registered.
  • April 1, 2009 – Public comments are due.
  • April 6, 2009 – The Minister’s decision is due.
  • May 21, 2009 – The Minister releases the undertaking.
  • July 8, 2009 – The Minister accepts the Environmental Protection Plan as satisfactory.
