Project Description:

The proponent proposes to carry out an operational aerial control program in Western Newfoundland using the biological control agent Abietiv (nucleopolyhedrovirus). The program will involve application mainly to areas forecast to receive moderate and severe balsam for sawfly defoliation in 2009 or additional adjacent silviculture areas which will be monitored and treated if necessary. The spray blocks are located north of Cormack near Bonne Bay Big Pond, Bonne Bay Little Pond, and Adies Pond.

• May 2, 2009 – The undertaking was registered.
• June 5, 2009 – Public comments are due.
• June 15, 2009 – The Minister’s decision is due.
• July 8, 2009 – The Minister releases the undertaking.
