Project Description:

The proposal is to construct and operate a blue fox and lynx farm on a 10 hectare agricultural lease on Wilburn Bay Road, 1.2 kilometre east of the North West River Highway (Route 520), north of the Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay. There will initially be four wooden 6 metre x 30 metre barns and a building for equipment storage, pelting, and drying operations. There will be manure composting storage area on-site. Lynx will number up to 130, with up to 150 blue fox with potential future expansion. Mink may be included at some point in the future as well. Construction is tentatively scheduled for September, 2009.

• September 2, 2009 – Public comments are due.
• September 11, 2009 – The Minister’s decision is due.
• October 16, 2009 – The undertaking is withdrawn.
