Summary of Environmental Assessment Process

The proponent proposes to construct a pressure treated timber crib wharf with a concrete deck at Poole Cove, Harbour Breton. The undertaking will also include a 2.4 kilometre gravel access road and parallel single phase electric power line from the wharf to Spencer’s Brook Road in Harbour Breton. A 62 metre by40 metre fenced feed storage area and attendant building will be built at the wharf site. The undertaking is in support of the aquaculture industry in the Harbour Breton area. If approved, construction is due tobegin in May 2010.

• April 15, 2010 – Public comments are due.
• April 23, 2010 – The Minister’s decision is due.
• May 26, 2010 – The project was released.
