Project Description:

The proponent proposes to construct a Regional Waste Management Facility (RWMF) inthe vicinity of the current Frenchman’s Cove dumpsite, which is situated on Route 220approximately 0.7 kilometres northeast of the intersection of Route 213 and Route 220on the Burin Peninsula. The 136 hectare site can be accessed by an existing road offRoute 220. The RWMF will consist of an administration building; weigh scale and scalehouse; metals storage; transfer station; household hazardous waste storage building;public drop-off area; construction and demolition waste storage; composting facility; andmaintenance garage. Construction of the facility is scheduled to start in 2011, withoperations expected to begin in late 2012 or early 2013.
