Project Description:

The proponent, Corner Brook Pulp & Paper Limited, is proposing to install a TDF storage,handling and blending system to allow the eventual addition of up to 5% by weight of TDFto the biomass feed to the #7 power boiler at the mill in Corner Brook, Newfoundlandand Labrador. Tire Derived Fuel is defined as a uniformly shredded product producedfrom whole scrap tires for use as fuel. Approximately 150 metric tonnes of TDF will bepurchased for the trial. During the trial, TDF will be added to the biomass feed of # 7boiler in small increments, from 1% to a maximum of 5%. Stack testing as well as ashleachate analysis and effluent testing will be conducted to quantify the impact of theboiler’s emissions at the 1, 3 and 5% increments.
