Summary of Environmental Assessment Process

Project Description:

The Town of Baie Verte proposes to construct a 7.5 kilometre water transmission main from an intake in Southern Arm Pond, west of Route 410 and south of Route 412. The project will eliminate existing pumping facilities and allow for an entirely gravity fed water system. The transmission main will be buried and will cross under Southern Arm Brook. The existing water treatment plant will continue to be used. Construction is anticipated to take approximately six months and is expected to begin in June 2011.

• March 10, 2011 – The undertaking was registered.
• April 19, 2011 – Public comments are due.
• April 24, 2011 – The Minister’s decision is due.
• June 2, 2011 – The Minister announced that the project is released.
