Project Description:
The proponent proposes to develop a cranberry farm located approximately 2.2 kilometres east of the Route 490 turnoff to Stephenville Crossing in the St. George’s area. The proposed farm will be 40 hectares in size with 25 hectares used for cranberry production. Development of the cranberry farm will include: ditching and berms, water storage and sediment ponds, an onsite sand source, and access roads. Work is proposed to be carried out over a seven year period to fully develop all the cranberry fields starting with 3 hectares in the first year. Construction is planned to take place starting in August 2011.
- April 20, 2011 – The undertaking was registered.
- May 25, 2011 – Public comments are due.
- June 4, 2011 – The Minister’s decision is due.
- June 30, 2011 – The Minister announced that the project is released.
