Summary of Environmental Assessment Process
Project Description:
The proponent has submitted a proposal to carry out mineral exploration assessment work in western Labrador, northwest of Schefferville, Quebec. The work will consist of surficial trenching and diamond drilling with a minimum of 27 drill holes and 16 trenches. The trenches will be approximately 20 to 50 metres in length and 1 to 4 metres deep. An additional 18 drill holes and 14 trenches may be excavated depending on initial results. Equipment will be moved along approximately 14.5 kilometres of skidder-drill trails to be constructed by the proponent.
- July 19, 2011 – The undertaking was registered.
- August 23, 2011 – Public comments are due.
- August 27, 2011 – The Minister’s decision is due.
- January 17, 2012 – The Minister announced that the project is released.
