Project Description:

The proponent has submitted a proposal for the development of a quarry located 4.5 kilometres south of the Pinware River Bridge in the Pinware River Valley, Labrador. The proposed quarry will consist of excavating one hectare of land on the West side of Route 510 and immediately north of a tributary flowing into the Pinware River. Operations will include clearing, grubbing, quarrying, screening of materials and transporting the processed aggregate to the local area. The proposed quarry is needed due to the depletion of resources in an existing quarry and will provide a long-term sand supply for a concrete batch plant in the Forteau area. The proposed work is scheduled to begin May 2013.
