Project Description:

The proponent is proposing a quarry in the Huguette Lake area, 15 kilometres west of Labrador City. The proponent currently has multiple quarry leases and permits in the area that are fragmented and wishes to consolidate and expand the area in order to obtain the aggregates required for future projects in the area. It will require the use of a temporary mobile crusher, as well as the construction and use of settling ponds for aggregate washing. The area encompasses 57.4 hectares. There is existing road access to the site,off the Trans Labrador Highway.

• February 17, 2014 – The undertaking was registered.
• March 25, 2014 – Deadline for public comments.
• March 31, 2014 – The minister’s decision is due.
• June 24, 2014 – The minister announced that the project is released.
