Summary of Environmental Assessment Process

Project Description:

The proponent proposes to develop a tourism business which will include the construction of rental cottages, camping /tenting areas, a café, walking trails and a boat dock.   A one-kilometre access road will also be constructed to the site.    The tourism business will be located in Labrador West, approximately 28 kilometres east of Labrador City.  The cottages and campground will operate year-round to serve both winter and summer tourists.   Development of the facility will occur in phases with construction proposed to begin in the summer 2015.

• October 2, 2014 – The undertaking was registered.
• November 7, 2014 – Deadline for public comments.
• November 15, 2014 – The Minister’s decision is due.
• December 16, 2014 – The Minister announced that the project is released.
