Summary of Environmental Assessment Process

Project Description:

The proponent proposes to develop a seven hectare sand, gravel and rock quarry approximately six kilometres south west of Clarke’s Head, Gander Bay, on an existing resource road and adjacent to other quarry operations.  The proponent proposes to operate under two quarry permits, one on each side of the resource road.  Material from the quarry will be used in local construction projects and for winter sand for the Department of Transportation and Works.

• March 11, 2015 – The undertaking was registered.
• April 16, 2015 – Deadline for public comments.
• April 25, 2015 – The Minister’s decision is due.
• May 21, 2015 – The Minister announced that the project is released.
