Summary of Environmental Assessment Process

Project Description:

The proponent proposes to establish a quarry adjacent to existing active quarries in the Piper’s Hole River area approximately six kilometres northwest of Swift Current.  The quarry will operate under two permits for a combined area of seven hectares and is intended to provide screened sand and gravel to local area customers and winter sand for highway depots.  The site will be accessed via an existing road.  Construction will require the removal of wetland to the east of the existing quarries.  Quarry operations are expected to start in August 2015.

  • June 24, 2015 – The undertaking was registered.
  • July 31, 2015 – Deadline for public comments.
  • August 8, 2015 – The Minister’s decision is due.
  • September 4, 2015 – The Minister announced that the project is released.
