Summary of Environmental Assessment Process

Project Description:

The proponent proposes to construct a 2.3 kilometre road near the Town of St. Lewis, on the south east coast of Labrador.  The road will be used to access 13 mineral exploration drilling sites year-round within the Public Water Supply Area of St. Lewis.  No buildings or accommodations are planned for the project.  Road construction will occur upon approval of the project and will take approximately one week to complete, dependent on weather and site conditions.

• October 14, 2015 – The undertaking was registered.
• November 20, 2015 – Deadline for public comments.
• November 23, 2015 – The Minister’s Decision is due.
• January 7, 2016 – The Minister announced that the project is released.
