Proponent: Department of Fisheries and Land Resources

Summary of Environmental Assessment Process

Project Description:

The proponent has submitted a Five-Year Operating Plan for Forest Management Districts 17 and 18. These districts encompass the majority of the Great Northern Peninsula, commencing at the northern boundary of Gros Morne National Park on the west side of the Peninsula and at Great Cat Arm on the eastern side of the Peninsula. These two districts share common ecoregion characteristics and, for forest management purposes, have been combined to form Planning Zone 8. The undertaking was registered on July 13, 2017; the deadline for public comments is August 21, 2017; and the minister’s decision is due by August 26, 2017.
