Project Description:

The proponent is proposing to use locally available kelp, including a current stockpile in St. Bride’s, for reclamation and possible complementary soil production at an existing quarry that requires reclamation and rehabilitation. The kelp will be used with existing materials at the quarry site which is seven kilometres east of St. Brides on the south side of Route 100, southern Avalon Peninsula. Any surplus product will be marketed and sold to the local agricultural and private market.

  • December 25, 2017 – Deadline for public comments.
  • January 4, 2018 – The Minister’s Decision is due.
  • January 31, 2018 – Environmental Preview Report required.
  • February 15, 2018 – Environmental Assessment Committee appointed.
  • March 22, 2018 – EPR Guidelines issued.
  • January 25, 2021 – Project expired.
