Project Description:

The proponent is proposing to establish a 10.5 hectare gypsum quarry located approximately 8.5 kilometres southwest of the town of St. George’s. The site is in an area previously developed by past-producing gypsum operations and is accessible by vehicle via existing site/haul roads that run from the site, through past-producing quarry operations, and connect to Route 403 near Flat Bay. The project will include parking and laydown areas, mobile office trailer, mobile crusher and screener, crushed ore and fines stockpiles, overburden/organics stockpile, security gate, water supply, and waste and septic management systems. The start of project activities is planned for March 2018.

• December 13, 2017 – The undertaking was registered.
• January 18, 2018 – Deadline for public comments.
• January 27, 2018 – The Minister’s Decision is due.
• March 6, 2018 – The Minister announced that the project is released.
