Proponent: Spring Meadow Farm Inc.
Summary of Environmental Assessment Process
Project Description:
The proponent is proposing to clear two parcels of land for forage production near Halls Bay, Springdale. The forage will be used to supply the proponent’s beef cattle farm, however, no animals will graze on-site and no fencing of the land is required. The land will be cleared through mechanical harvesting and mulching. A mechanical rock crusher attached to a tractor will be used to convert rocky ground directly into soil suitable for planting. Soil preparation may also include the application of lime and commercial and cow manure fertilizers. Two forest access roads will need to be upgraded which will require vegetation removal, grading and culvert installation.
