Summary of Environmental Assessment Process

Project Description:

The proponent proposes to develop a drill mud processing facility at 24-42 Hops Street, off Highway 2 (Peacekeeper’s Way) and Fowler’s Road within the Town of Conception Bay South. This facility will require the installation and operation of a Vacuum Assisted Recovery Unit to treat waste drilling mud, fluids and cuttings to recover the synthetic drilling fluid. The proposal also includes construction of an operational pad for containment, a pelletizing plant, fully contained pellet storage, and a bulk fuel storage tank.

• January 3, 2020 – The undertaking was registered.
• February 11, 2020 – Deadline for public comments.
• February 17, 2020 – The Minister’s decision is due.
• March 2, 2020 – The Minister’s decision is due (extended).
• April 21, 2020 –  Environmental Preview Report (EPR) is required.
• May 6, 2020 – Environmental Assessment Committee appointed.
• June 13, 2020 – Environmental Preview Report Guidelines due to be issued.
• July 30, 2020 – Environmental Preview Report Guidelines issued.
