Project Description:

The proponent has submitted a proposal for a Five-year Operating Plan for Zone 6, which includes Forest Management Districts 14 and 15 in Western Newfoundland. Zone 6 extends from Burgeo to Port aux Basques in the south to the southern boundary of Gros Morne National Park in the north. The plan describes proposed timber harvesting operations, construction of access roads and silviculture activities covering the period from January 1, 2024 to December 31, 2028.

• July 18, 2023 – The undertaking was registered.
• August 24, 2023 – Deadline for public comments.
• September 1, 2023 – The Minister’s decision is due.
• September 29, 2023 – The Minister’s decision is due (extension).
• October 13, 2023 – The Minister’s decision is due (extension).
• October 27, 2023 – The Minster’s decision is due (extension).
• November 3, 2023 – The Minister decision is due (extension).
• November 9, 2023 – The Minister determined that the project is released.
