Summary of Environmental Assessment Process

• The proponent has resubmitted a downsized aquaculture growout tank farm to an earlier proposal to raise Arctic Char near the Town of Roddickton at Pump House Road. Six rearing tanks are now proposed as opposed to the previously submitted 22 tanks to be constructed at the site measuring 4 metres in diameter by 1.8 metres depth each. A spring water supply system will be utilized with water passed through a series of interconnected polyethylene pipes to feed the rearing tanks and discarded water will be passed through a seepage filtration system.
• November 9, 2000 – The undertaking was registered.
• January 5, 2001 – The Minister announced that the project was released from environmental assessment.
