Summary of Environmental Assessment Process
The proponent plans to develop the Luce Deposit as part of the progression of the Carol Mining Project. The Luce Deposit is located 3 to 5 kilometres southeast of historical mining activities and comprises 1.2 billion tonnes of reserves and resources in three zones: Luce South, Luce Main and Luce Basin. The life of the Luce Deposit is anticipated at 25 years. Access to the deposit is through existing roadways on the property. A short (approximately 1 km) branch line for the Automatic Train Operation and an additional loading pocket are being considered.. White Brook will be diverted and Hakim Lake and several smaller streams will be drained. The proponent is planning to commence development of the Luce Pit in 2001.
