Summary of Environmental Assessment Process

The proponent proposes to construct and maintain a 120 km, two way, winter snowmobile trail from Mulligan to Postville and a 65 km, two way, winter snowmobile trail from Burnt Lake to Makkovik in Labrador. The trail will have a right of way cut to winter trail specifications, 6 m wide, is intended for winter use only and no construction of bridges is anticipated. Rest stations will be placed on skids and located approximately 50 km apart. Trail development, including appropriate signage is expected to commence in the summer of 2001 and be completed within 23 weeks.

• April 12, 2001 – The undertaking was registered.
• July 16, 2001 – The Minister announced that the undertaking was released from environmental assessment.
