Summary of Environmental Assessment Process

The proponent has proposed an amendment to the existing Five Year Management Plan to permit timber harvesting which was not able to be completed prior to the submission of the Management Plan. The area to be harvested is located at Triton Brook southwest of the Town of Gambo and covers approximately 113 ha of productive forest within a total area of 333 ha and will involve harvesting approximately 8,500 cubic metres of merchantable softwood. Existing roads will be used to access the timber.

April 25, 2001 – The undertaking was registered.

July 24, 2001 – The Minister announced that the proponent has agreed to extend the Minister’s decision to August 3, 2001.

August 8, 2001 – The Minister announced that the project was released from environmental assessment.
