Project Description:

The proponent proposes to develop a gold mine at Hammerdown on the Springdale Peninsula south of King’s Point. The Hammerdown property is contained within 96 hectares. Most of the infrastructure is in place as a result of the test-mining program previously conducted. These structures consist of existing access roads, portal, various on-site buildings, 25 kV transmission line and various stockpiles for backfill, rock and ore. The undertaking will employ 66 people at full production. The proponent proposes to begin the undertaking in September, 2001.

  • August 3, 2001 – The undertaking was registered.
  • September 20, 2001 – The Minister announced that the undertaking was released from environmental assessment.
