Summary of Environmental Assessment Process
Project Description:
The proponent proposes to construct andoperate a 5 to 25 MW wind generation demonstration project consisting ofup to 50 wind turbines with individual rated capacity between 500 kW and1.8 MW. The wind farm is proposed for an area approximately 1 km northwestof the Town of St. Lawrence on both sides of Route 220. The turbines arehorizontal axis, three bladed wind energy converters with a maximum heightof 75 m and a rotor diameter of between 40 and 54 m. Turbines will beaccessed via a 4.5 m wide gravel access road. Underground cabling willlink the turbines to an intertie point and then be connected throughoverhead transmission lines to a substation. An in-service date isprojected for late 2003.
- November 21, 2001 – The undertaking was registered.
- January 14, 2002 – The Minister released the undertaking.
- September 26, 2002 – The Minister announced that the Bird Monitoring Program has been approved.
- July 3, 2003 – The Minister announced that 2002 Bird Surveys have been submitted.
- May 2, 2007 – The Minister approved the Environmental Protection Plan.
