Project Description:

The proponent in affiliation with the (local) Humber Winterland Snowmobile Club plans to upgrade an existing trail in the Pollard’s Point, Sops Arm area to meet Newfoundland and Labrador Snowmobile Federation standards for use as a snowmobile trail in Western Newfoundland. The location of the trail starting at Pollard’s Point runs in a southwestern direction for approximately 8 kilometres to join an exiting snowmobile trail located between Main River and the Upper Humber River. The trail will be cleared to six metres width to allow safe passage by trail groomer and snowmobiles. Construction will consist mainly of cutting of trees, erection of shelters and installation of stream crossing structures.

  • September 9, 2003 – The Minister released the project from further environmental assessment
