Project Description:

The proponent is proposing an amendment to the current Five Year Plan to conduct forest harvesting activity in the Traverse Brook area, which is located in Forest Management District 5, to the northeast of Jonathan’s Pond / Provincial Park, in Central Newfoundland. The proposed amendment covers an area of approximately 406 hectares, representing approximately 46,400 cubic metres of productive alienated stands, consisting of mature and over-mature timber of mostly black spruce and balsam fir. Harvesting is planned to begin in either late fall or early winter.

• August 11, 2003 – The undertaking was registered.
• October 17, 2003 – The Minister announced that the undertaking is conditionally released from further environmental assessment.
