Project Description:

The proponent proposes to construct a mink fur farm on a 45 acre site near Georges Brook, on the north side of Route 232, Trinity Bay . The proposed fur farm will contain 4,000 female breeders producing approximately 20,000 kits per annum. A total of 4 to 8 acres will be cleared to encompass sheds and fencing. There will be eight mink sheds (122 metres by 6.7 metres), a storage shed, perimeter fencing, temporary manure storage and access roads. Farm construction is proposed to begin in the spring of 2006.

• December 22, 2005 – The undertaking was registered.
• January 26, 2006 – Public comments are due.
• February 1, 2006 – The Minister announced the proponent has withdrawn the project from environmental assessment review.
