Project Description:

The proposed trail will be developed adjacent to the Long Range Mountains from Port aux Basques in southwestern Newfoundland to Crow Head in the north. The proposed IATNL will total approximately 700 kilometres of new non-contiguous walking/hiking trail connected by existing trails and roads. The over 20 new sections of trail will range in length from one kilometre to over 100 kilometres, much of it over barren terrain requiring only rock cairns to mark the route. The proposed IATNL will be approximately one metre wide with no bridges or board walks. Refer to previous registrations 1194 and 1372 for previously approved sections of the proposed trail. Development of the proposed IATNL will be phased in over ten years.

• February 6, 2009 – The Minister’s decision is due.
• March 16, 2010 – The project was released.
