Summary of Environmental Assessment Process

Project Description:

The proponent proposes to develop a cranberry farm in Wooddale, near Grand Falls-Windsor, in central Newfoundland. The farm will be located approximately five kilometres in New Bay Road. Approximately 10 hectares of cranberries will be farmed on the bog site. Development of the cranberry farm will include: ditching and berms, construction of a reservoir, irrigation and sediment ponds, plus a 12 metre by 12 metre wooden garage/office. Work to develop the cranberry beds is proposed to be carried out over five to seven years. Construction is planned to take place during the summer of 2011.

• March 4, 2011 – The undertaking was registered.
• April 12, 2011 – Public comments are due.
• April 18, 2011 – The Minister’s decision is due.
• May 12, 2011 – The Minister announced that the project is released.
