Project Description:

The proponent proposes to develop 187 hectares of crown land for vegetable production off Route 340 near Loon Bay. The fields and farm access roads will be developed over an eight to ten year period with 12 to 16 hectares of land cleared per year. Operation of the farm is planned between spring and fall and produce will be transported to the proponent’s warehouse in Comfort Cove for storage, grading and packaging. Construction of the farm will begin upon approval.

• April 27, 2011 – The undertaking was registered.
• June 7, 2011 – Public comments are due.
• June 11, 2011 – The Minister’s decision is due.
• July 26, 2011 – The Minister announced that the project is released.
