Project Description:

The proponent proposes to decommission and rehabilitate the Wabush Mines Scully Mine property located in the southwest corner of Labrador approximately three kilometres from the Town of Wabush.  Rehabilitation will consist of the following general activities: demolition and removal of all above-grade buildings, foundations and other infrastructure; cleanup of all surface yards including removal and disposal of all materials; removal of fencing and re-contouring of roadways; decommissioning of tunnels; revegetation of the tailings management area; flooding of open pits; and monitoring activities to evaluate site erosion, pit stability, surface and groundwater, etc.

  • January 14, 2016 – Deadline for public comments (extended).
  • January 24, 2016 – The Minister’s Decision is due (extended).

  • February 10, 2016 – The Minister’s Decision is due (extended).
  • February 24, 2016 – The Minister’s Decision is due (extended).
  • February 29, 2016 – The Minister announced that the project is released.
