Project Description:
The proponent proposes to establish a 16 kilometre walking/hiking trail from Cape Freels South to Newtown, located at the northern edge of Bonavista Bay. The trail will follow an historic road used previously by local residents but will also consist of new sections. Trail construction will use a combination of crushed stone and boardwalk and four bridges will need to be constructed to cross brooks along the trail.
- November 14, 2018 – The undertaking was registered.
- December 19, 2018 – Deadline for public comments.
- December 29, 2018 – The Minister’s Decision is due.
- January 10, 2019 – Environmental Preview Report (EPR) required.
- February 7, 2019 – Environmental Assessment Committee appointed.
- March 4, 2019 – EPR Guidelines due to be issued.
- March 14, 2019 – EPR Guidelines Issued.
- January 3, 2022 – Term of the Minister’s decision to require an EPR has expired.
