Project Description:

The proponent proposes to develop a 36-hectare quarry located approximately 800 metres east of the Butter Pot Provincial Park interchange at the Trans Canada Highway. Access will require upgrading of an existing trail and construction of approximately 800 metres of new road. The quarry will be used for removing sand, gravel and rock to support infrastructure developments on the northeast Avalon Peninsula.

• September 16, 2020 – The undertaking was registered.
• October 22, 2020 – Deadline for public comments.
• October 31, 2020 – The Minister’s decision is due.
• November 20, 2020 – The Minister announced the project is released.
• March 18, 2021 – The Minister announced the Viewscape Management Plan was approved.
