Project Description:

The proponent is proposing to develop a 1.81-hectare sand and rock quarry on Pasture Land Road, near the Foxtrap Access Road, in the City of St. John’s. Development will include vegetation clearing, grubbing, and stripping and stockpiling of topsoil for reclamation. Quarry operations will include drilling, blasting, crushing and stockpiling of aggregate material.

• October 7, 2020 – The undertaking was registered.
• November 12, 2020 – Deadline for public comments.
• November 21, 2020 – The Minister’s decision is due.
• December 4, 2020 – Deadline extended for Minister’s decision.
• December 3, 2020 – Environmental Preview Report (EPR) is required.
• December 3, 2020 – Environmental Assessment Committee is appointed.
• February 1, 2021 – EPR Guidelines due to be issued.
• January 27, 2021 – The Minister issued the EPR Guidelines.
• March 24, 2021 – EPR Submitted.
• April 29, 2021 – Deadline for Pubic comments on the EPR.
• May 8, 2021 – Minister’s decision on the EPR is due.
• May 5, 2021 – Minister’s EPR decision.
• July 8, 2021 – Revised EPR Submitted for review.
• August 12, 2021 – Deadline for Public Comments on the revised EPR.
• August 22, 2021 – Minister’s decision on the revised EPR is due.
• August 26, 2021 – The Minister announced the project is released.
